Getting around
Taking Trains and Taxis in China
China’s transport network is fast and extensive. The difficult part for a first-time visitor is often identity checks, Chinese addresses, and recovering when something changes.
High-speed trains
Book using the same name and travel document that you will carry. Arrive with time for security and identity checks, especially at large stations. Stations may have several entrances and waiting areas.

Taxis and ride-hailing
Do not rely only on an English place name. Save the destination’s Chinese name, full address, phone number, and a map pin. Hotels and factories can have similar names or multiple gates.
If the driver cannot find you
Send a precise pin and a photo of the pickup point. Look for a numbered gate or landmark. If language is blocking the pickup, ask a local contact or ChinaSide to speak directly with the driver.
If you miss a train
Check the ticket conditions and available alternatives immediately. Do not assume every ticket can be changed in the same way. Ask station staff or the booking platform for the next valid option.
